Army bowlers Gabriel, Clark and Dearden all took 3wkts each.rn The Army responded but struggled against the medium paced wicket to wicket bowling by Paul Stephens 4-36 off 10 overs. The spin bowling by Muhammad Hameed 10ov 0-33 was decent but the introduction of Finnan Bryan 8ov 4-33 and an excellent run out by Charlie Moore of Jonathan Boynton 37 changed the game. 181-9 looked likely to be a CCC victory. However Dearden 19 and No 11 Benson 15no batted sensibly, for 2 to win off the last ball. However a fine throw from Charlie Moore for a run out resulted a Tie. Match report
CCC won the toss, and elected to field WSX: 243 all out (49.4 overs) Kasim Alleyne 68, Miguel Machado 65, Tristan Blackledge 4/36 (on CCC debut). CCC: 244 for 2 wkts (40.2 overs) Baber Choudhary 95*, Cole Campbell 92* (on CCC debut) CCC won by 8 wktsrn Match Report by CCC Match Manager, David Goldsmith (CCC Life Vice-President, Gidea Park CC)rn" The CCC chose to bowl and all the bowlers did well. A mix of pace and leg spin (two) stuck to their task even with the big hitter. r What really impressed me was the overall quality of the fielding and fitness of the team. r The Keeper, Michael Turner - good hands, good movement and the best I have seen in a long while. Captaincy – Concise and good field placement (in a couple of surrounding gardens would have been beneficial) Baber Choudhary and Cole Campbell were extremely good with Choudhary hitting the gaps constantly. This kept the CCC up with the clock throughout the run chase. The two wickets that did fall, the batsmen looked more that capable until their exit."rn And David Goldsmith's 'thankyou'rn"Hospitality – First class and a credit to a professionally run cricket club. Ground – Very good with good facilities and a good wicket Lunch – quality with as much as you wanted They organised a VP lunch which increased the crowd to watch some fine cricket. The Opposition – Some good overseas players in their side especially the big hitting Kasim Alleyaine from Barbados"rnrn- for the full scorecard, copy the link below into a new browser session

CCC won by 7 wktsn Match Report by David Perrin:nThe Oman National Women’s team, on their inaugural overseas tour, faced the CCC in a T20 at Watford Town CC on May 21st, having beaten Wanstead CC with two balls to spare in their opening match. Oman’s 86 for 8 was built round their redoubtable captain Vaishali Jesrani’s 32 not out. CCC skipper Anje Lague took 2 for 5 in a tight opening spell, and Saparna Sivakumar (borrowed from the Oman squad) did her usual team-mates no favour with 2 for 10, as Oman slipped from a decent position of 60 for 4. nOpener Zaynab Khan, with 39 not out, steered the CCC Women to a convincing 7-wick win in their first fixture of the season. nAmanda Dcosta, for her economic spell, was chosen by the umpires as Omani Player of the Match. The Omanis’ five-match tour is being facilitated by the National Cricket Conference/Club Cricket Conference. Their highly enthusiastic 14-strong squad was selected from eight teams playing in Oman, where women’s cricket is developing rapidly. nnn- for the full scorecard, copy the link below into a new browser session

4 May 2017Under 25 XI v University of London CC
Match report
CCC won the toss, & batted. CCC: 358 for 8 (50 overs) Hamza Ahemd 119, Tom Phillippe 100. UoL: 91 all out (24.2 overs) Chris Jones 4/21 on CCC debut. CCC won by 267 runs.n On a chilly early-season day at Winchmore Hill CC, the Conference Under-25s proved too strong for the University of London, winning the 50-over match by no less a margin than 267 runs. After opening partner Bilal Mohammad went in the second over, Hamza Ahmed struck a lusty 119, leading the assault on often wayward bowling. Quickfire contributions came from Chris Jones with 26, Dhavalkumar Narotam with 22, and 15-year-old Alan Jones with 27. nComing in at an already threatening 203 for 4, captain Tom Phillippe hit a powerful 100, to take CCC to a daunting 358 for 8, with help from Shailen Assani and others in the lower order. nSkipper James Vitali ( 2 for 41), Aryan Jain (3 for 40), and Patrick Hatcher (2 for 40) were the best of the nine University bowlers used. With 30 from Tamoor Haidar and 23 from Aryan Jain (who played a match last year for the CCC), the University began their reply steadily, reaching 80 only two down. Then disaster struck, and eight wickets fell for only 11 runs, the students all out for just 91 in 24.2 overs. A tidy spell of 2 for 14 by medium-pacer Jake Poulter (a grand-nephew of former CCC president Eddie Poulter) applied the brake. Then, against a rash of reckless shots, the flighted off-spin of Chris Jones (4 for 21) ran through the middle order. Two catches in two balls in the deep by Bilal Mohammad, and then one by Poulter gave Jones his hat-trick. nA sharp slip catch by Phillippe off leggie Tanvir Hasan secured the win.n David Perrin Match Manager for v UoL, & CCC President 2017nnn- for the full scorecard, copy the link below into a new browser session

Match report
Jersey won the toss, & elected to bat Jersey - 224 for 7 wkts (50 overs) Nathaniel Watkins 46, Luke Gallichan 56, Jonty Jenner 63 CCC - 162 all out (44 overs) Darren Ironside 56*nJersey won by 62 runsn The Jersey batsmen were in no mood for a repeat of their Saturday performance. A steady 3 runs an over rate for the first 11 overs (with only 1 wicket down), was then gradually increased towards 5 runs per over by Watkins, Gallichan, & Jenner. Gallichan was 3rd out in the 39th over with the score at 154, and Jenner stayed until being dismissed in the 49th. Had any of nos. 5 to 7, been able to stay with Jenner, Jersey would have scored more. CCC captain, Jamie Southgate, bowled himself for 9 of the final 18 overs, and rotated his bowlers at the other end. Tahir Kazmi got 2 wkts, as did Ravi Panchal.n CCC were disappointing in their reply. After Southgate was caught behind in the 2nd over, Ballard, Patel, Ramsden, & Burslem, were all caught from poor shots. Had one or two been able to stay with Darren Ironside, an exciting game could have happened.n Jersey were the dominant winnersnn- for the full scorecard, copy the link below into a new browser session

24 Sep 2016Representative XI v Jersey National XI
Match report
CCC won the toss, & elected to bat CCC - 192 for 9 wkts (50 overs) Ravi Panchal 35, Darren Ironside 31 Jersey - 176 all out (49.2 overs) Ravi Panchal 3/33 CCC won by 16 runsn A closely fought match, with no batsman playing a dominant innings.n For the CCC, the top order of Jamie Southgate (19), Eddie Ballard (25), Harry Ramsden (22 on CCC debut), & Tommy Burslem (21 on CCC debut), all made starts, but none could stay more than 8 overs, and therefore no big partnerships developed. Our 3rd debutant, Darren Ironside (at no. 6), scored his 31 in 53 balls, and it needed Ravi Panchal (out with 1 over to go) to score 27 of his 35 runs in the last 15 of his 47 balls (6 x 4's). Charles Perchard was the most economical of the Jersey bowlers, with 2 wkts for 12 runs from his 7 overs.n The Jersey innings followed a similar pattern, albeit they were 7 wkts down before 100 runs were scored (CCC being 4 wkts down at that stage). After losing their captain, Peter Gough, to a direct hit, 1 stump to aim at, run out by Harry Ramsden, Will Harris (25) & Nathaniel Watkins (26) took the score to 60, before both & Jonty Jenner were dismissed within 5 runs (Ravi Panchal taking 2 of those wickets). It required two 30+ partnerships for the last 2 wickets for Jersey to reach a respectable, but hever really threatening, score. Darren Ironside was our most economical bowler with 2 wickets for 22 runs from his 10 overs.n After only 1 win in the last 7 matches between the teams, the CCC were obviously delighted.nn- for the full scorecard, copy the link below into a new browser session

Kerr’s 53 came off 56 balls. A middle order collapse followed as the Harefield spinners took control, which was supported by two excellent catches by Dougie King at short mid-off. Rishi Patel held the innings together as he contributed 70 (58 balls) before being last out, which included a last wicket stand of 43 with Grant Meadow (0 !!). CCC finished on 190 in 38.5 overs.n Harefield skipper, Dan Ogden (29), got them off to a flyer as they scored at 6 an over before he was caught behind from a loose shot with the score at 42 in 7th over. Leo Bethell (3/36) managed to pick up two wickets from his opening spell as CCC began to regain the initiative. Introduction of spin from both ends in the form of Luke Chapman (3/15) and skipper Bilal Butt (1/9) resulted in a collapse as Harefield struggled to 98 for 7wkts in 22 overs. Despite some resistance from the Harefield lower order, they were bowled out for 126 in 32.3 overs as the CCC won by 66 runs.n Match Manager: Dipu Patelnn- for the full scorecard, copy the link below into a new browser session.

CCC won the toss, & elected to bat CCC - 218 for 9 wkts (50 overs) Ed Kilbee 51 Kent - 220 for 4 wkts (29.2 overs) Sean Dickson 63, Adam Rouse 70*n Charlie Hartley broke a handy second-wicket stand of 67 between Eddie Ballard (48) and Saurav Prabhakar, after Hugh Bernard struck with the new ball in the fifth over. The CCC innings faltered after Prabhakar (42) was third out at 135 (31 overs). None of the remaining batsmen could stay & build a partnership with Ed Kilbee. Leg-spinner Jan Gray, 17, excelled on his Kent 2nd XI debut - picking up three scalps thanks to a couple of excellent catches by skipper Adam Ball and another from Bernard. Hartley returned to take two more wickets as the Conference middle order failed to capitalise on the strong start.n In reply, Kent lost opener Gerry Fatouros, bowled by Abhishek Kulkarni in the sixth over before partner Adam Ball scored 44 off 38 balls including seven boundaries. Sean Dickson and Adam Rouse shared a match winning stand of 114 off 87 balls.nn- for the full scorecard, copy the link below into a new browser session

Match report
Surrey won the toss, & elected to bowl. CCC - 141 all out (42.2 overs) Ed Kilbee 57, Amar Virdi 4/18. Surrey - 144 for 6 wkts (29.1 overs) Dominic Sibley 63, Marwan Mohammed 3/42.n The CCC batted first with Guildford CC seamer Duncan Selmes taking the first wicket to fall before Ed Kilbee (57) and Dan Lezar (14) added 56 for the second wicket, when Kilbee was trapped LBW by Freddie van den Bergh. That was the breakthrough Surrey required to start running through the order, with Amar Virdi getting rid of Lezar three overs later and taking back to back wickets in his subsequent two overs to land the CCC in deep trouble at 92/5. This became 92/6 when Chris Jones got in the action, 93/7 when van den Bergh and wicket keeper Olly Batchelor combined for a run in the following over, and 93/8 when Virdi took his fourth wicket. A spirited ninth wicket partnership helped the CCC post an defendable total before van den Bergh and Selmes returned to shut the innings down for 141. In reply, Surrey based their rapid and successful chase around a totemic 63 from 55 balls by Dominic Sibley. Whilst no other batsman made 20 runs, they all made more than 10 with Ryan Patel (17) and Dan Douthwaite (14*). Marwan Mohammed was the best bowler for the CCC, completing his 10 overs with more than respectable figures. Surrey continued at a good pace throughout the innings, eventually knocking the total off to record a comfortable victory from 29.1 overs.nn- for the full scorecard, copy the link below into a new browser session.

Match report
CCC won the toss, & elected to batn CCC: 365 for 6 wkts (50 overs) Ed Kilbee 124, Saurav Prabhakar 90, Waqas Hussain 90n Tanzania: 275 all out (49.5 overs) Arshaan Jasani 50, Abhik Pattwa 46, Tanvir Hasan 5/53n CCC won by 90 runsn This was the 4th match in 5 days that the CCC had organised for the Tanzanian National team prior to their ICC Division 5 tournament in Jersey.n A dominate left-handed opening partnership between debutant Ed Kilbee, and Saurav Prabhakar, of 194 in 30 overs, was the mainstay of the CCC innings. With Waqas Hussain smashing 90 runs from 47 deliveries, Tanzania were under pressure throughout the game. Ed Wharton found extra pace & bounce in his opening spell for the CCC; rewarded with the first 2 wickets. A 78 run / 70 ball partnership between Nassoro and Jasani looked like a re-build, but after that was broken by Lesbourne Edwards, 5 consecutive wickets to leg-spinner Tanvir Hasan (called into the team the previous day for his CCC Rep team debut) between 147 and 176 ended any thought of that. Tanvir was fortunate to have a experienced / quality off-spinner, his captain Bilat Butt, bowling at the other end (40 runs from his 10 overs). Nos. 9 (Pattwa, 46) and 10 (Dugar, 38) brought respectability (& some entertainment) to the Tanzania effort. nCCC's failure to knock-off the tail resulted in 12 penalty runs due to their slow over rate (an indiscipline that this correspondent detests).n Stan Nicholson - 18 May 2016nn - for the full scorecard copy the link below into a ne browser session

Match report
Middx won the toss & batted. Middx - 324 for 8 wkts (50 overs) CCC - 126 all out (26.3 overs) Middlesex 2nd XI won by 198 runsnn- report by CCC Match Manager, David (call me Goldie) Goldsmithn A unanimous opinion, the first day of summer 2016 was the 4th of May ! nA beautiful ground, a hard wicket and as always at Radlett, a warm welcome. I say “as always” but I must admit, it was the first time I have ever been there! I now know what I have missed. Walking into the ground there was much activity, Middx, busy with what seemed to be a host of coaches and one of my favourite cricketers Dave Houghton (Zim), plus the team going through the motions and of course Min Patel with the Conference team taking his job very seriously and the lads listening, hopefully learning, but the main thing was, they had an intent attitude. That is how it should be !n Ok, so warms up completed, coloured clothing on, (after the normal Moss Brothers fitting) the CCC took to the field, sun still out, 20 degees, this is Summer!n Early overs saw the CCC bowl well and straight with Usman Arif bowling with good intent “good wheels” as they now say. (3-49 off 9) However, it was evident that these Middx boys know how to pace an innings, especially Eskinazi, their opening keeper batsman who looked at ease, especially with the ball coming on. Well supported throughout the majority of the Middlesex innings by Higgins (39), and Lace, with an impressive (73), Middlesex posted a total of 324 for 8. The fall of wickets confirmed not only the pace of the innings, but also the quality of the pitch, 1-54, 2-120, 3-262, 4-277, etc. Plus, the normal quicker pace of the final 5 overs. Eventually, Eskinazi was run out in the 44th over for a very impressive 129. As regards the CCC Bowling performance, one thing did impress, only 3 wides and 3 no balls. The lads bowled straight, so perhaps length was the problem ?n In reply, the classic comment really, it felt like I was watching a 20/20 game, they all got in and then got out.! Only Sam Burge (21) Waqas Hussain (25) and Max Osborne (26) contributed with the CCC finally being bowled out in 26.3 overs. (Yes it’s May, early days I know)n I feel the best way to report our innings is to quote Min Patel’s team talk (short but concise) after the match. (apologies Min if I miss-interpret).n n“Now listen guys, you have just played quality opposition, they posted a big score, as they should, with the time they get and the coaching they enjoy, it was on the cards on that track. Today, was your opportunity not to bat on a sometimes sub-standard club wicket, but to bat with application and you could have built a reply, steadily slowly on a good track, and to see where you were at 30 and 40 overs. It was the perfect opportunity for all of you to get some good time at the crease and prove your ability” n- - - - Well Said Min.n The essence of playing Conference Cricket as I thought in my day (yes it’s an old “has been” talking) was to play at the highest standard you can at club level. That, in turn, may just lead to higher things, but even if not, you know you are a very good player. That being the case, I suggest Min’s comment about application is a key part.n So, my message to the CCC team. We all know it was high class opposition, but it’s nothing you cannot handle. You know how good you can be and how good you are! Make yourself available and keep applying yourself whatever the circumstances. n Report ends – Can Do Better.n Finally my sincere thanks to the following - nThe Umpires – T.Rutherford & N.J.Hall The Scorers – M.A.Shepherd & A.B. Jones The CCC Officials – S. Prodger & S. Nicholson.n Without you there would not be a match.n And Finally to Tony Johnson & The Members of Radlett Cricket Club, you have a fine facility Good catering (thank you Ladies) Great beer (I only had a couple) and mainly, you are so well organised and fully behind moving this wonderful game forward. Thank you so much for your fine hospitality.nn Goldien David Goldsmith.n(Now –Unfortunately a Blazered Has Been) nFormerly - nCCC, MCC, Bucks CCC & Gidea Park & Romford CC.nn- for the full scorecard, copy the link below into a new browser session.

Match report
Barbados won the toss, & elected to bat. Barbados: 144 all out (42.2 overs) Anthony Alleyne (overseas player at Walton-on-Thames CC in 2015) 55, Ed Wharton 3/32, Adam Riley 4/28. CCC: 149 for 9 wkts (38 overs) Maruf Chowdhury 42, Dario Seale 3/27, Chaim Holder 3/32.n This one had it all ; heat, drama, collapses, fight-backs, injury, more drama, heros. A 'sharp-eyed' CCC player noted that the umpires were not present at the toss, as the CCC lost the toss, and were asked to bowl/field first on the hotest day of the tour. The Barbados XI were effectively the Barbados 2nd XI, with many players 'looking for places' in their 1st class team. Maruf Chowdhury had found the conditions on tour conducive to his swing bowling, but this team had 5 left handers in their top 7, and for a while it looked like our seamers would struggle. However Maruf & Ed Wharton had other ideas, with the assistance of keeper Richard Wharton ; the 1st 3 wickets all caught keeper [one a tremendous diving effort in-front of 1st slip]. Ed then claimed his 3rd with a c&b. Time for the spinners ; and as throught-out the tour, Messers Riley, Yarnley, & Southgate, kept the pressure on the batsmen, giving nothing away, and taking wickets. Barbados fought-back with a determined/patient 8th wicket partnership between opener Alleyne & keeper Worrell (47 runs/16 overs). Riley dimissed Alleyne & no. 10 in a double-wicket maiden over, but Barbados were not finished, with no. 11 contributing 11 runs to a 17 run last wicket partnership. Despite a loose opening over, the Barbados XI also had a quality attack. CCC scored at 5 an over for the first 10 overs, but lost 3 wickets. At 74 we were 'half way home', however we were 5 wickts down, then captain Yarnley 'took one on the chin' (requiring medical attention at a local surgery) Someone need to dig-in. That looked like Sam Burge before dancing down the pitch to one that spun past his bat. Jamie Southgate was determined to see it through, but holed-out to deep mid-wicket ; 97/7. Enter Maruf to join his opening seamer, Ed Wharton. Although Ed was out at 128, Maruf was playing his career-best CCC innings ; 36 balls, 8 x 4's, 10 x singles ; then out with 2 need to win. Enter 'captain courageous'; stiches, plasters ; 4 x dot balls, time to end it, a six !!nA dramatic end to a dramatic game, and a fitting end to our tour.n Stan Nicholson.nn- for the full scorecard, copy the link below into a browser session.

CCC won the toss, & elected to bat. CCC: 216 for 7 wkts (45 overs) Eddie Ballard 61, Waqas Hussain 57*. Barbados Police: 116 all out (33.2 overs) Ed Wharton 5/7, Jamie Southgate 3/33. After 3 consequtive defeats, this win was needed. A decent 42 run opening partnership of 42 was followed by a 3rd wicket stand between Eddie Ballard & Michael Payne of 78. Waqas Hussain ensured that the advantage was not thrown away by dominating the last 13 overs, scoring 57 of the 83 runs. Ed Wharton 'blew-away' Police batters nos. 2 to 4 with a wicket maiden in his 2nd over, then 2 double-wicket maiden in his 3rd over (followed by another maiden over). Jamie Southgate & Adam Riley each then completed their 9 over spells, maintaining the strangle-hold ; 89 for 8 after 27 overs. BS XI won by 7 runs by D/L due to rain in the afternoon ; CCC innings set to 30 overs. Good 2nd & 3rd wkt stands set the BS XI for a good score : 125 for 2 wkts at 30 overs. Tidy bowling in tandem by Yarnley & Payne ensured the scoring rate did not accelerate, & Chowdhury picked-up 2 wickets at the death. The CCC reply got off to a bad start with 3 wickets falling in the first 3 overs. Waqas Hussain & Richard Wharton took the score to 77, before Waqas was out in the 17th over. Richard batted positively throughout, but none of the middle order stayed with him. 20 runs were required from the last 3 overs with 2 wkts remaining, but both fell in the final over.nn- for the full scorecard, copy the link below into a browser session.

7 Nov 2015Representative XI v Combined St David's XI, Grenada
Match report
A damp pitch meant a delayed start to 11.52am, and a reduced overs game of 35/35. Combined St David's won the toss, & elected to bat.n'Damp pitch', was a massive understatement. Playing on a 'large sponge', was more accurate. It reminded this correspondent of a Teddington 4th XI match v the Middlesex Tamils 3's at Sundown Park, off the Hendon Way, North London, a few years ago. It was going to be a challenge for any batsmen to get to double figures.n CCC - 217 for 7 wkts (35 overs) Sam Burge 90.n2 early wickets lost, a 'start' to 44 for 3 down, Sam finding his own way to score heavily to be 5th out at 151 (9 x 4's, 4 x 6's, 62 balls), Dan Yarnley ensuring we got near/over 200.n St David's - 111 all out (22.3 overs) K Peters 41, Adam Riley 4/17. As they took the field, the CCC fielders needed to be wary of the javelin throwers of the local athletics club practicing just over the boundary line. The St David's team found it equally, if not more difficult to score runs. Simple/straight bowling was the way to get wickets. A 31 run partnership for the 8th wicket was the best St David's could do, with no. 8, K Peters finding the boundary with 4 x 4's, & 3 x 6's, during his 31 ball innings. He was last out, bowled by Adam Riley, who ended up with the match-best bowling fiures.n A nice way to start the tour, although a slight down-side for the CCC were 3 players with minor injuries ; although none serious (we hope).n Stan Nicholson (woken-up by the Sunday morning rain)nn- for the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

Match report
Kent won the toss, & elected to bat. Kent: 268 for 9 wkts (50 overs) Adam Ball 59, Joe Joyce 77*. CCC: 229 all out (47.3 overs) Eddie Ballard 64, Waqas Hussain 40, Jasdev Bassan 4/45. Kent won by 39 runs.n Match report by Andrew Tutt. Kent 2nd Xl elected to bat, after winning the toss on a breezy overcast day at the newly developed Beckenham ground. Tight bowling from Osborne, Hussain and Anderson in the early stages kept Kent relatively quiet in the power play overs with both openers being dismissed. nWith the introduction of spin, added with some good fielding, the CCC were able to dismiss most of the middle and lower order, including the 3 wickets of experienced 1st Xl players, Ball, Harmison and Blake, just when all 3 were threatening a big score. The Kent side were in a spot of bother at 152-7 with trialist Joe Joyce at the crease and only the bowlers to follow. The 8th wicket partnership of 61 by Joyce and Hunn, saw the last 3 wickets put on 116 runs from the final 15 overs with Kent posting and unlikely at one point 268-9, Joyce finishing on 77*. Pick of the bowlers for the CCC, Payne 2-48 and Southgate 3-53. A mention must be made to the ‘Jordan Silk’ like catch by Queenslander, Sam Heazlett, that left 1 batsman and a number of spectators open-mouthed. Openers Prabhakar (30) and skipper Ballard (64) then produced a fine opening partnership of 94 in 17 overs before the latter was first out. Both openers handled the pace and bounce of Hunn expertly. Again the introduction of spin had an immediate impact with 3 wickets falling in quick time to leave the CCC 118-4 at drinks. Rebuilding was needed; this came from Heazlett (16), Hussain (40) and Payne (36), and with 10 overs to go the CCC were in a great position at 201-5 needing a further 68 for victory. Unfortunately as is often seen the taking of a power play and a little bit of naivety saw our last 5 wickets go down for the addition of only 28 runs, the Kent side running out victors by 39 runs.nn- for the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

Match report
Bucks won the toss & batted Bucks - 262 for 8 wkts (50 overs) Michael Payne 90, Matt Rance 65*, Bilat Butt 3/44. CCC - 227 all out (49.1 overs) Wes Morrick 72.n Michael Payne's innings, batting at no. 5, was the real difference in this match. One opener in each team reached double figures, as did one other first 7 batter in each team (excluding Michael for Bucks). Both teams accumulated over 100 runs in their final 10 overs, with Matt Rance providing most of those for Bucks, & Wes Morrick for the CCC.(Wes had replaced an injured Justin Granger half way during the Bucks innings). Nearly 500 runs in the first match of the season provided a useful exercise for both teams. This was the earliest match that the CCC had ever started a season with, and we were thankful for a fine dry day. As well as a beautifully prepared wicket & ground, plus perfect catering & hospitality from Aston Rowant CC.nn- for the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

Midlands CCC won by toss. CCC 143 all out (37.3 overs) MCCC 144 for 4 wkts (30.5 overs) Midlands CCC won by 6 wktsn Heavy over-night rain made the outfield and areas of the square very wet. The ground-staff worked energetically to make conditions playable for an 11.30am start. CCC made a brisk start, but after the loss of both openers (Brentwood CC'c, Jon Walford & Aaron West), the CCC innings fell-away to line & length bowling ; 4th seamer McGinley destroying the middle order from 55/2 to 59/6. No. 3, Waqas Hussain received some support from Daniel Yarnley to take the score past 100, then it was left to Waqas (67*) to bat with the tail. 143 was a disappointing total. The CCC bowlers performed well to have MCCC 40/3, but opener Mellor settled-in and then dominated for 85* (81 balls, 10 x 4's, 3 x 6's). Match report
MCC - 245 for 9 wkts (50 overs) CCC - 246 for 3 wkts (47.5 overs) CCC won by 7 wktsn On a perfect summer's day and on a classic cricket ground, MCC and CCC renewed their annual rivalry, both sides keen to win the toss on such a hot day. MCC duly did so and elected to bat, committing the Conference to a long session in the field, defending a lightning fast outfield. With Aiden Blizzard opening the batting, MCC were hoping for an early onslaught to compile a first innings score that might cow the Conference team later in the day. The best laid plans however, are often overturned and it was the Conference that took the honours in the early stages, led by veteran military medium pace bowler, Justin Granger (Sunbury CC). In a spell of mesmerising swing bowling 'Danger' accounted for the first three wickets, including that of Blizzard, reducing MCC to 38-3 and featuring an outstanding catch at square leg by Alex Williams (Tunbridge Wells CC), taking a stinger on the horizontal to dismiss Russell. On such a good wicket, batsmen were bound to get in at some stage and Ryan and Devon minor county player Holman, began the rebuilding of the MCC innings with some watchful graft against a Conference attack that maintained admirable discipline throughout. As MCC attempted to quicken the pace, captain Mark Smith (Wimbledon CC) accounted for two wickets, including Ryan for 62. Granger was reintroduced into the attack and claimed a further two to finish with 5- 52, and two direct hit run outs by Waqas Hussain (Slough CC) enabled the Conference to keep MCC shackled as their innings drew to a close. Holman remained undefeated on 88 as the innings closed on 245-9 off the allotted 50 overs. There was a sneaking suspicion that this total may have been 30 runs light, as the outfield ensured anything hit through the ring was seldom chased down. Three outstanding catches, two run outs and a decent all round fielding performance in support of the bowlers offered the Conference confidence in believing it could chase down the MCC score.n Eddie Ballard (Bishop’s Stortford CC) and Alex Williams settled into the task of establishing the Conference reply and never looked in trouble against steady but unthreatening bowling. It came as a surprise when Williams was dismissed for 23, by which time Ballard was established and beginning to time the ball beautifully through the covers. Whilst Richard Wharton (Hornsey CC) struggled before being dismissed for 3, Hussain and Smith supported Ballard with flowing and forceful knocks, shepherding him to a genuinely outstanding century, chanceless and full of shots. It was Ballard, who finished undefeated on 143 and Smith who saw the Conference home with the best part of three overs to spare, to complete a comprehensive victory by 7 wickets.n Whilst the batting was in itself impressive, the management took even greater satisfaction in the bowling and fielding performance earlier in the day from a talented group of players that ably demonstrated the quality of performance CCC is capable of and should be aspiring to play each time they take to the pitch.n Simon Prodger, 18/7/2013. nn For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

Match report
CCC - 189 all out (48.2 overs) Bucks - 145 all out (34.1 overs) CCC won by 44 runs.n A wonderful day of weather, and Burnham CC as a great host, greeted the CCC Under 25’s. Having won the toss CCC skipper Richard Wharton decided to have a bat. Some very good opening bowling from King and Burden for Bucks showed runs were going to be hard to come by on a very dry wicket. King picking up 2 wickets in the early opening spell reducing the CC to 2-13. Skipper Richard Wharton and Waqas Hussain showed solid determination and kept the score ticking over with the occasional freeness to strike a boundary as the ball became softer and the wicket harder to score on. The introduction of slow bowling saw runs even harder to come by with Khan, Rance and Payne bowling 39 overs for 92 runs taking 7 wickets. Tight bowling and batsmen’s frustrations created a hard fought period where a score of 180 plus seemed a match winning total. Wharton was dismissed for 36. Caught at mid-wicket form a ball that didn’t come on, whilst Hussain made a well compiled 52 before playing on, and Jamal Francis 27 playing on set the base for a final push. Unfortunately a regular fall of wickets in seeking quicker runs saw the CCC fall to 8-141 and 170 seemed a long way off. But Andrew Westphal, with 20, and Joe Ellis-Grewal, with 23, showed great maturity and understanding for the situation and set about batting out the overs and sensibly compiling a great stand of 40 chanceless runs in an 8 over period, which was the to prove the highest scoring rate of the game ironically. This partnership was also to prove the match winning partnership as the CCC reached a total of 189.n Basil Akram and Andrew Westphal provided a fine opening spell. Akram bowling Morgan first ball of the innings and Westphal claiming 2 wickets reduced Bucks to 3-21 off 11 overs in a fine opening setting the platform for a pressurised middle innings spell. Joe Ellis-Grewal bowled very well, unlucky not claim more than his 2 wickets in his 10 over spell. With the Bucks innings wobbling at 7-119 the introduction of Rishi Sharath saw the Bucks innings fall away. Sharath claimed the all-important wicket of Payne for 32 bowled, and with the accuracy and pace at which Sharath bowled, he gained 2 more wickets, finishing with figures of 3-15 to wrap up an end of innings performance.n A fine, grafted, all round performance in all departments saw the CCC gain a well fought victory by 44 runs.n Congratulations and thanks, to all players on both sides and to Burnham CC for its hosting and hospitality for making the day thoroughly enjoyable.n Russell Collard, 12/7/13.n For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

9 Jul 2013Representative XI v Kent CCC 2nd XI
Match report
CCC: 200 all out (39.1 overs) Kent: 206 for 4 wkts (38 overs Kent won by 6 wktsn A flat hard track. The sun's blazing down, and you win the toss. Perfect. Let's bat. It's probably a 240/250 wicket, so lets make hay while the sun shines. The opening partnership was Walford and West, both from Brentwood. Runs were easier to score from the bowling of Shaw, but Hartley was more miserly, until his final, nine run, over. The introduction of MacVicker saw Walford immediately bowled, and Slough's Waqar Hussain pottered; most unlike him. A few overs from Kemp, and neither batter was able to significantly advance the score. Hussain made little of the spin of Cowdrey, and departed while Aaron West reached his fifty, and steered the CCC past the hundred mark, but with 20 of the forty overs used up, hopes for a large total, faded. Yet again a bowling change caused the immedate loss of a wicket, this time West was bowled by Pickering, swiftly followed by Ahmad Elech, caught by Favian Cowdrey, an very busy captain indeed. Waltham's Tanweer Sikandar and Will Stickler from Tunbridge Wells batted well togehter but runs were mainly restricted to singles, and Kent continued to ring the bowling changes, taking a wicket here and there. Sikandar broke out of the straight jacket with several boundaries before offering a fatal catch, and with a few attempted lusty blows from Wes Morrick the CCC stuttered up, but did not pass 200.n An Excellent repast was enjoyed by all, before the start of the Kent innings. Williams more than Lilley, was busy at the crease. Lilley settled down to bat through. When Maruf Chowdhury ran out Williams it came as a surprise, and the only way, so far, that the CCC looked like taking a wicket. With the arrival of captain Cowdrey, Lillay became more aggressive, as was the running between the wickets. Sharp singles were frequently taken and often one became two, while Cowdrey also acquired several boundaries. Left arm spin, two varieties, bowled most of these middle overs, and when a boundary was not on offer Cowdrey was happy to play "inventive shots" to keep the score ticking along. The occasional slog sweep being used as an alternative to the reverse lap or reverse sweep. At the other end the now very active Lilley was running three's to pass his half century, before succumbing to Ealing's Ahmad Elech, rapidly followed by his captain, stumped from the bowling of Qayyum. MacVicar, who was the pick of the Kent bowlers, now proved his allround abilities by scoring a rapid thirty two, to leave no doubts about the result.n Kent deservedly won by six wickets, with time to spare n Roy Arnold - 10/07/2013n For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

Match report
CA: 311 for 4 wkts (45 overs) CCC: 234 all out (40.1 overs) Crusaders Australia won by 77 runsn Due to availability problems the CCC started this match without a recognised 5th bowler, and paid dearly for that. Crusaders captain, Alex Heath, has been in the Australian U-19 team, and has played for Victoria. His 123* was compiled from 106 balls, and he never looked in any trouble. Two useful contributions from Tallan Wright (57) & Chris Read (40*), helped to post a formitable total. Rishi Sharath, & Ravi Panchal were the pick of the CCC bowlers; each only conceding 36 runs from their 9 overs. The Crusaders tactic of openning with a spinner paid-off, as 16 year old Josh Tong took 3 of the first 4 wickets (4/71). Will Stickler, on CCC debut, top scored with 66, with 3 others getting into the 30's. It was a pity that the CCC could not bat-out the 45 overs.n For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

Match report
Game 1: CCC 151 for 5 wkts. France 154 for 4 wkts (19.4 overs). Game 2: France 169 for 7 wkts. CCC 171 for 2 wkts (18.2 overs).n Game 1 Batting first the Conference lost the early wicket of Sajid Ali after which Richard Wharton and Waqas Hussain took the score to 47. Two wickets then fell in quick succession after which the scoring was controlled by some good French bowling and some naive batting despite a fine 42 from Tom Phillippe. A final total of 151/6 of 20 overs appeared under par in the conditions, and so it proved when France won the game by 6 wickets. A fine opening stand of 79 set the tempo and although the game was won with only two balls to spare France were always in control with Thavalingam making a fine 51 at the top of the order. A little more thought and planning was necessary by the Conference XI if the result was to be reversed in game 2. Game 2 France batted first and scored steadily throughout their 20 overs with the highlight being the innings of 75 by Batthi which contained a number of innovative shots, particularly the reverse sweep/hit. Wickets fell at regular intervals and despite the final total reaching 169/8 this was a much better bowling/fielding effort by the Conference with the pick of the bowlers being Tahir Kazmi with figures of 3/31 from his 4 overs. Lessons had been learned from the first game and a much more controlled and planned performance with the bat saw the Conference win the game by 8 wickets with 10 balls to spare. Sajid Ali (70), Richard Wharton (33), Waqas Hussain (45 no) and George Stear (8 no) all contributed with the running between wickets much improved to compliment the ‘big shots’ resulting in a comfortable chase. It was pleasing to see the players adjust their approach between games (with some advice from coach Mark Stear) and play to a higher level.n Malcolm Roberts, 6/6/13.n For the full scorecard, copy the links below into your search address bar. Game 1: Italy: 143 for 5 wkts. CCC: 146 for 5 wkts (19 overs). Game 2: CCC: 88 all out (18 overs). Italy: 182 for 4 wkts [CCC bowl 20 overs to give Italy practice]n Both teams gathered nice and early at the picturesque Weybridge CC ground ready to play in their coloured clothing in the shorter white ball format of the game. With Italy having just arrived to take part in the ICC Europe 20/20 competition, and with the CCC tour to Milan in September 2013 this was an ideal match for both sides going forward. nJoe Ellis Grewal the CCC captain won the toss and elected to bowl first on a hard dry pitch. The Italian openers Marage and Northcote got of to reasonably good start putting on 39 for the 1st wicket which was helped by some wayward bowling , however with the introduction of Ed Wharton who varied his pace to remove both openers with the score moving onto 41- 2. Petricola the number 3 then steadied the innings with a well constructed 29 and with the help of Bonara who made a flourishing 25 the Italian innings finished on 143 - 5. The pick of the CCC bowlers were Ellis-Grewal 2-20, Wharton 2-27 and Sikandar 1-27.n Tim Handel got the CCC innings of to a flying start, however with the score on 22 the CCC lost both of their openers to Munasinghe. This bought Waqas Hussain who wasted no time in making a quick fire 72 of just 47 balls which included five 4's and three 6's and with the support of Ali and Elech the CCC reached the required total by the 19th over. Munasinghe 2-23 and Sandri 2-24 were the pick of the Italian bowlers. n Overall a very competitive game played to a high standard which both sides found very useful for future preparations.nn Gulfraz Riaz. 5 July 2013.n For the full scorecard, copy the links below into your search address bar. Match report
CCC - 244 for 6 wkts Herts - 192 all out CCC won by 52 runsn A good toss to win, and bat, when the weather is so doubtful, and that is what the Conference side decided to do.n Farnham Royal's Sajid Ali went off like a train, eleven in no time, but then he hit the buffers and Waquas Hussain, now of Slough but very familiar with the Harrow gtound, carried on in like manner. 28 of his 37 runs coming in boundaries. Indeed Waquas' first non boundary scoring shot waited until the thirteenth over, meanwhile captain Wharton pottered on supplying that solid base from which good totals usually come. With the introduction of Greaves and Mitchell to the bowling attack, both batters departed, making way for Tom Phillipe, from Haddersleigh and Thundersley (is that in France ?), and Basil Akram (Hornsey is definitely in London). Together they moved the score from 79-3 to 161 in the 41st over before the loss of Tom, and the quick departure of two others left Ed Wharton with the job of trying to see Richard to a well deserved century. He didn't succeed but the CCC had a respectable total of 244-6. Something to bowl at.n Generaly the running between wickets was not of the best, and at least ten runs, probably more, were wasted. There was some quality batting, but a few batters seem to regard anything other than a boundary as not worth considering.n Hornsey's Basil Akram partnered Tring's Zachan Arshad with three or four economic overs but the pair of Rudkin and Patternott soon accelerated and so Ed Wharton was asked to apply the brakes. It was, however, Wanstead's Saurav Prabhakar who broke through. Rudkin LBW-37 at 85-1. Now Ed struck ,at 106-2 and 109-3 AND a runout 117-5 Saurav taking wicket number four, and the Herfordshire innings looked slightly bedraggled, havin degenerated from eighty five without loss to 117 for 5. Principaly to the left arm spin of both Saurav Prabhakar and Henley's Gurveet Singh. Few of the remaining batters could stay with Alex Axon who had dug in successfully. Nevertheless, with Liam Mitchell, he constructed a thirty three run nineth wicket partnership, but it was never going to be enough. The two spin bowlers, with assistance from Ed Wharton and Travis Hussain (High Roding's) applied constant pressure to bowl out the opposition for 192 with nearly five overs to sparen Job Donenn Roy Arnold - 21/06/2013nn For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

14 Jun 2013Under 25 XI v Jersey National XI
Match report
CCC: 250 for 6 wkts (45 overs) Jersey: 252 for 7 wkts (44.5 overs) Jersey won by 3 wktsn CCC captain Waqas Hussain won the toss and had no hesitation in electing to bat even with overcast conditions at the start. The Conference openers, Richard Wharton and Sajid Ali started steadily against the lively Jersey bowling attack. They had reached 26 in the sixth over before Ali mistimed a drive and was caught for 13. Wharton was looking in great form and shared partnerships of 30 with Tom Colvard, 38 with Waqas Hussain, 31 with Tom Phillippe, all of these batsmen got in and then contrived to get out, the latter two to run outs. It was during the batting power play that skipper Hussain decided to change the batting order and promote Ed Wharton up the order to join his brother Richard to increase the run rate. This was an inspired decision because Ed decided to take on the Jersey attack and was fairly brutal on anything pitched in his half. He struck a rapid 51 (27 balls, 1x6, 5x4’s) in a stand of 83. Richard meanwhile was going about his way to a wonderful century brought up with a six. He eventually finished on 118 (132 balls, 2x6’s, 10x4’s), out trying to get quick runs for the team. The Conference finished on 250 for 6 in their 45 over allotment, the not out batsmen being Ed Lowe and Richard Cook. The most impressive bowler for Jersey was Tony Kay who caused trouble for all the batsmen.n The sun came out after the break and made batting a bit easier, as the Jersey openers set about the CCC target. They had added 91 off some wayward bowling when the first wicket fell in the 16th over. The contest then was pretty evenly balanced as neither side could keep the pressure on. The Jersey batsmen kept chipping away at the total and as the rate was creeping up their wicketkeeper Ed Farley started to get more strike and began to play some big shots to drag them back into the game. It all came down to the last over to be bowled by Ed Lowe, with Jersey needing 11 to win. Farley struck a well timed 6 off the fourth legitimate ball to leave 3 to win and then followed that up by smashing a 4 to win the game by 3 wickets with a ball to spare. Farley finished on 89 not out (87 balls, 2x6’s and 9x4’s). The Conference didn’t help their cause by bowling 25 wides. Pick of the bowlers was Rishi Sharath.n This was an excellent game of cricket played in great spirit and the Jersey coach was full of praise for the Conference team giving their full National side a great workout before they compete in some European ICC tournaments.n David Dunnn For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

CCC: 203 for 9 wkts (40 overs) SE Sunday CL: 29 for 0 wkts (4 overs) Rain stopped play at 4.30pmn Bring a brolly!!nAn away fixture for the Club Cricket Conference. This was a match brightened by the batting of Ahmad Elech, and which suffered from the weather. Efren Cruz started very briskly with three fours. Thereafter Ealing's Ahmad Elech dominated successive partnerships with Farrukh Chodhry, Ravi Panchul and Zashan Arshad, to take the score to 179 for four wickets at the end of the 36th over of this game, which was now restricted to 40 overs per side. Some "interesting running" and inventive shots saw wickets tumble in the last few overs as the score progressed to 203-9. As a result of a communication breakdown between the host side and the host club the Conference side took the field while awaiting the arrival of tea. Rain however soon again intervened and the game ended rather damply ater only 4.3 overs of the South East Sunday CL eleven's innings.n Roy Arnold - 13/06/2013n For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

11 Jun 2013Representative XI v Chemplast Sanmar
Match report
Chemplast Sanmar - 184 for 9 wkts CCC - 138 all out Chemplast Sanmar won by 46 runsn Hailing from Tamil Nadu in India and boosting a host of players with first class experience, Chemplast completed their highly successful tour of England at Wanstead CC.n Despite having to make 7 changes to the originally selected side, predominantly due to call ups of players to County second elevens and Minor Counties, the Conference fielded a strong XI on a dull day, and on winning the toss, elected to bowl first in helpful conditions.n Debutants Mubashir Hassan ( Hampstead CC) and Basil Akram (Hornsey CC) opened the bowling and both caused problems for the Chemplast top order as they got the ball to seam. Hassan had the early success claiming both openers, bowled and caught in the slips respectively and his spell set the standards for the innings as a whole. Chemplast were unable to slip the shackles of CCC's accurate attack and aggressive field settings. In the middle overs, Waqas Hussain (Slough CC) and the excellent Richard Hindley (Havant CC) picked up 5 wickets between them as the visitors failed to accelerate their run rate whilst losing wickets regularly. Their final score at 50 overs was 184-9, indebted as they were to Kudua for his 48 to hold the middle order together. Hindley ended with figures of 3-19 from 10 overs, displaying wonderful control of flight and pace with his suffocating off spin.n CCC commenced their innings with high expectations, the conditions unaltered from the start of the match. However, it became clear that Chemplast's strong suit was their bowling, with both their openers playing regular first class cricket. They reduced the Conference to 18-5 with outstanding bowling, mixing pace with swing and masterly control of seam that proved too hot for the top order batsmen. Jonathan Das (Wanstead CC) and Richard Sillars came together for the only meaningful stand of the innings, Sillars being very aggressive as he tried to apply momentum to a shriven innings. They put on 55 together before Sillars perished playing one big shot too many but Das remained very composed at the other end and as partners begun to run out, expanded his shot selection against spinners struggling slightly with a wet ball. Das completed a very fine half century on debut, eventually falling for 66 as the last man out; CCC's innings ended at 138 all out. Jesuraj, with a first class bowling average of 25 in Ranji Trophy cricket, ended with the impressive figures of 4-20 off his 10 overs.n Whilst the result was disappointing the Conference were able to blood three new cricketers in Hassan, Akram and Das that clearly have much to offer in future; Chemplast confirmed that the Conference bowling attack was the strongest they had faced on tour, but that said, their attack would win leagues in this country as it contained quality in all departments.n The Conference would like to thank Wanstead CC for hosting a fascinating fixture and its players on the day for making themselves available, many at very short notice.n Simon Prodgern For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

6 Jun 2013President's XI v British Police CC
Match report
British Police: 253 for 9 wkts CCC: 195 all out British Police won by 58 runsn Celebrating their 40th anniversary, the Police won the toss and decided to bat. CCC, under captain Daniel Yarnley (Chessington), threw the ball to Abhishek Kulkarni (Stanmore) 1-51, and Ed Wharton (Horsey CC) 3-56 from his allotted 10 overs, who had a good opening spell with good carry to his brother Richard, behind the stumps, and was rewarded with the first wicket. In his second spell he was fortunate to have two towering hits with the deep well caught by Ravi Panchal (Stanmore CC), who later picked up a third towering catch. Waqas Hussain (Slough CC) was brought into the attack and soon had a wicket caught behind from a ball which appeared to leave the right hander. Michael Payne (Tring CC) bowling his off spinners (1-48) showed his experience in two good spells. Gurveer Singh (Henley CC), a last minute replacement, bowled his 10 over spell capturing one wicket with his left arm spinners, and a very good change of pace and a good arm ball. nSajid Ali from Farnham Royal opened for the CCC with Tim Handel (East Molesey) and between them put on 61 for the first wicket. Ali particularly showing good aggression to compose 37 when was first to go. Tim Handel showing that his winter move of clubs is having the desired effect. Richard Wharton certainly looked compact until he was done by a quicker ball and caught behind off spinner, Morris. Ahmed Elech was going well when he was dragged down by spinner Davies and stumped – same for Michael Payne, but give credit to the British Police spinners who dominated the CCC innings. Skipper Yarnley battled with skills of higher position than no.7, but then again you often do that when you are captain.n195 all out represented a disappointing result against British Police, who played their cricket very well. nn- Bill Bigmore, 7/6/13.n For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

Match report
Rain reduced the match to 35/35 overs. CCC: 193 for 5 wkts Chris Gayle Academy: 149 for 8 wkts CCC won by 44 runsn Thursday 30th May 2013, saw the launch of the Chris Gayle Academy in London and Kingston, Jamaica in a partnership between Cricket fo Change (C4C), the West Indies and Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL cricket star, Chris Gayle, The Chris Gayle Foundation and funders Comic Relief.n This multicultural sporting social development programme will look to unlock the potential of young people to become role models in theirncommunities. The London based academy, which has already started training, will work hand in hand with the Jamaica based academy, whichnis due to start in 2014.n To mark the launch and celebrations the Club Cricket Conference U25's were asked to field a side against the Chris Gayle Academy XI. On andamp grey day both teams gathered at the start to meet the West Indian superstar and once the formalities were out of the way both teams werenkeen to commence the anticipated contest.n Mark Smith the CCC captain won the toss and elected to bat first. However the CCC did not get off to a flying start and soon found themselves at 21-2 with the impressive T Silva bowling with good pacendoing the early damage. However Ravi Panchual making his CCC debut (69 not out) along with the steady Richard Wharton (35) went aboutnrebuilding the CCC innings and took the score to 90 before Richard Wharton was run out by a sharp bit of fielding, this emphasized thenenergy and high skill levels shown by the fielding side throughout the game. With the occasional stops for rain the umpires decided to reduce the 40 overs per side contest to 35 overs thus making sure that a game was completed. Although the CCC lost regular wickets, Farrukh Chodhry made a well constructed and supportive 34 not out making sure the CCC side got to a respectable 193-5 from their allotted overs.n The Chris Gayle Academey XI side innings got off to a similar start to the CCC side and soon found themselves at 18-2 against the impressive pace attack of Edward Wharton (2-21)and Sam Helm (2-24). With a partnership required to keep up with the run rate J Francis (51) and B Kulasera (31) went about in setting the foundations of chasing down a steep score against the varied but experienced CCC bowling attack. However once this partnership was broken the side showed great spirit in trying to pass the CCC total but ultimately fell short and ended up on 149 -8 at the end of their 35 overs.n Overall the game was played in great spirits with both sides showing some excellent cricketing talent. The match certainly was fitting to mark the launch of a fantastic project and we were honoured to be partnof such a special day.n Gulfraz Riazn For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

13 May 2013Representative XI v Middlesex CCC 2nd XI
Match report
Middlesex won the toss, & batted Middlesex: 211 for 7 wkts CCC: 214 for 6 wkts CCC won by 4 wkts.n Following the narrow one wicket loss to Essex last week, CCC took on a strong Middlesex 2 side at Radlett on Monday. Batting first, Middlesex were out of the blocks fast as Adam Rossington and Paul Stirling pulled and cut anything short with brutal efficiency. However, Usman Arif (Finchampstead) took 2 wickets in an over to dismiss both openers in his fiery first spell, bowling fast enough to hurry the batsmen into false shots with the score on 38.n Adam London and Josh Davey compiled a half century stand and maintained a decent run rate on a fast scoring ground but captain Mark Smith (Wimbledon) snared the prolific London through a fine catch by Sam Burge (East Molesey) for 21, just as the partnership was threatening to get out of hand. A further half century stand between Davey and Eskinazi again put Middlesex in a strong position to push on to a big score but the introduction of spin checked their advance.n Adeel Malik (Elliott Davis League), following on from his fine performance against Essex, again bowled a challenging spell of leg spin with barely a poor ball offered; his principle support came from another wrist spinner, Rishi Sharath (Slough), whose left arm chinamen gripped and turned sharply. Together they reduced Middlesex from 145-3 to 162-7, both claiming two wickets and allowing their skipper to gain control of the run rate and set fields to aggressively support his bowlers. Davey fell for a solid 57 but with Higgins and England Lion James Harris both being dismissed for 0 it was left to Tom Smith and Tom Helm to resurrect the Middlesex innings and take them to a final score of 211-7 off their 40 overs.n CCC responded with an opening partnership of 46 by Fahim Qureshi (Henley) and Eddie Ballard (Bishop's Stortford), both looking relatively comfortable against the sharp pace of Harris and Tom Helm, although Sterling's initial spell of spin was played watchfully. Ballard batted particularly well against pace and was responsible for accelerating the innings as CCC worked hard to ensure wickets were in hand for the latter overs. He was the 4th wicket to fall at 113, for a very fine 68 but his innings set the base for the major stand of the innings between Mike Payne (Tring Park) and Adeel Malik. Batting cautiously initially as they rebuilt and stabilised their team's position, both players grew in confidence against a strong bowling attack as they increased the scoring rate towards the final power play. The two took CCC to within 3 runs of victory before Malik fell for 45 off 29 deliveries, including 2 huge sixes. He had done the damage though and it was left to Payne, undefeated on 42 to hit the winning runs in the final over of the match and secure CCC a well merited victory.n The Conference wishes to extend its sincerest thanks to Middlesex County Cricket Club for being outstanding hosts on the day, and congratulates the CCC players for a fine all round performance against a strong Middlesex side.n For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

8 May 2013Representative XI v Essex CCC 2nd XI
Match report
The CCC season kicked off with a real nail-biter against Essex 2nd XI at The County Ground in Chelmsford.n With some light drizzle in the air, Essex won the toss and opted to field on what looked a very decent wicket. The opening attack of Tymal Mills and Maurice Chambers would give most pro batters the hurry up and both bowlers struck a blow each to have the CCC at a precarious 20 for 2. From there, aided by some wayward bowling and some solid partnerships, the CCC moved along at a very healthy run-rate and at 133-4, had laid a platform from which to post a very competitive total. The mainstay of the CCC innings was Aaron West who had looked extremely comfortable until a reverse sweep off Tom Craddock’s leg-spin brought about his downfall for 41. Soon after CCC’s captain, Wes Morrick, who was otherwise playing a superb cameo, was out in identical fashion for a 38-ball 47. This was the catalyst in the CCC being bowled out for 201 and committing the most cardinal of all sins in one-day cricket by leaving 6 overs unused. n In reply, after Chowdhury had bowled Saif Imitaz for a duck, it looked as though Essex may make short shrift of their reply. Browne and Sole pounced on anything offline and the boundaries were being clattered with some regularity. Morrick bought himself on to bowl in an attempt to stem the tide and had immediate success dismissing both batsmen. From here, small but valuable partnerships were being broken with timely efficiency to the point where Essex were 9 wickets down and still needing 31 more runs for victory. Essex Academy scholar, Aron Nijjar then played an innings that showed great maturity and composure and with excellent support from number 11, Thomas Moore, guided Essex to victory. n A fantastic match starts what promises to be a busy but hugely rewarding CCC Representative season.n For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

Match report
CS: 223 for 9 wkts (50 overs). CCC: 224 for 2 wkts (36.3 overs). CCC won by 8 wkts.n We under-estimated Combined Services last year, so the cry-on match manager was determined to make sure a strong team represented the CCC. It is not always true that when you reconnaisance a ground in winter, that it will be ideal the first week of September ; but Gerrards Cross CC was. Both captains would have batted first, as the toss fell in favour of Combined Services. It is always pleasing when your opening seamers bowl an ideal length & line. Wes Morrick has been doing that for a 'hundred years', but it was Ed Lowe who capture the early first 2 wickets, with catches to mid-on, were captain, Sam Burge, did not have to move. Wes got the 3rd with a rising delivery off 'the ridge'. A positive partnership took the score to 91, where-apon 4 wickets fell regularly. As a non-spinning left armer, the match manager was most excited by the stumping off Joe Ellis-Grewal. An 8th wicket partnership took the score beyond 200, but all CCC bowlers did a terrific job. Aaron West showed no nerves facing a spinner at the top (after both he & Jon Walford fell to spinners at the start of Brentwood's innings in The Conference Cup Final). It was more a case of 'exercising the devil'. Very pleasing for the CCC to have 2 under 21 players put on 142 for the 1st wicket. Waqas Hussain has a MCC YC contract for 2013, and Aaron is 'the batter' in Essex, with outings for the Unicorns this year. Aaron went one further to score the one & only century for the CCC this season. Match report
CCC: 222 for 10 wkts, 45 overs. C&EE: 221 for 9 wkts, 49 overs. Match Drawn.n On a cloudy morning promising some short rain interruptions, CCC captain Simon Routh won the toss and elected to bat first on a hard dry wicket.n Against a young but challenging opening bowling attack the CCC lost Ahmad Elech early when he left an inswinging ball and had his middle stump removed. This brought in Waqas Hussain (57) who along with Aaron West (65) went about rebuilding the innings with care, and then once settled went on the attack punishing any bad bowling. Although once these two were out, and the CCC lost a few quick wickets, vital contributions by Ross Poulton (36) and Ed Wharton (22) meant that a respectful total was set. Russell Stockdale finished with great figures of 5/57.n The C&EE reply was built on a very solid and attacking partnership between Chamath Jayasooriya (37) and the brilliant Tom Blundell (101). The innings start given by these batsmen meant that their team were very much in control of chasing down the score, however once these two were removed the C&EE team lost their way and no other batsmen made any major contributions. Excellent spin bowling by Michael Churchhill (6/63), and the pace of Matt Green (2/68) meant that the game was going to go the wire ; and so it proved with 3 needed of the last ball with 9 wickets down and although the C&EE batsmen tried to send the ball to the boundary, it made it's way in the air and the CCC fielder although got a hand to it could not catch it to ensure a victory of the last ball.n Really good game played in great spirit by all involved.n For full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

23 Aug 2012Women's XI v MCC Women
Match report
MCC: 411 for 8 wkts (50 overs). CCC: 93 all out (30.3 overs)n Last year saw our inaugural match against the MCC ; inaugural in all respects as it was the first time we had ever fielded a Women's side. That match resulted in a narrow loss to the MCC.n Whether it was the closeness of last season's game or unexpected good availability this year the MCC were taking no chances. Awaiting their arrival at the Hayes(Kent )ground where we were splendidly entertained, we became a little nervous as one after another England player turned up. And they were not playing for us! Sue Benson of Finchley, who captained our side very capably indeed made her first strategic decision when winning the toss and that was to insert the opposition.n After two early wickets and a glimmer of hope we were treated (the spectators that is) to a superb display of batting of the very highest quality from Sarah Taylor who is The England wicketkeeper and opening bat. Starting carefully against the seam and spin combination of Hannah Jelfs and Rebecca Silk who bowled very tidily indeed, Sarah provided an object lesson of how to build an innings. After reaching 50 she accelerated effortlessly and mercifully retired after scoring 151. It is no surprise to those of us who saw her innings that she has been nominated as ICC world player of the year.n Our girls deserve great credit for not giving up in the face of this onslaught and there were very promising performances from Rebecca Silk, Samantha Wright, Anna Swann, & Susie Rowe.n Facing a mammoth score of 411 in 50 overs was always going to be beyond us. Susie Rowe, our England player battled hard and well until with wickets falling around her she was dismissed for an excellent 48.n We eventually lost by 318 runs, a result which led to the suicide of the CCC match manager shortly after the game!n For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

Match report
CCC: 257 for 8 wkts decl. (59.2 overs) Sawbridgeworth: 261 for 8 wkts (50.4 overs)n Many of the locals thought CCC had batted too long in this match, but the Sawbridgeworth team always went for victory. A couple of early wickets, then some rebuilding, but CCC were 6 wickets down for 113 at lunch. Hamzah Khan (who has proved to be a stubborn batsman), and Ross Poulton (an agressive century against CCC 3 weeks ago) put on 122 in 23 overs after lunch. Ben Waring, a 14 year old left arm spinner that will interest CCC and many others bowled 20 overs for 56 runs (note the name). Sawbridgeworth eased to 53 without loss at tea, but an immediate wicket then another by Ed Lowe, put CCC in the match. A Sawbridgeworth rebuilding 3rd wicket stand, then 5 regular wickets, took the score to 174 for 7 wickets. CCC where ready for 'the kill'. Captain Joe Rudkin decided to take the game to CCC, and as often in chasing matches a couple of 'big' overs can make the difference. 6 x 6's & 4 x 4's, 66 runs in 33 balls from Joe ensured victory for his team in the penultiment over ; a captain's innings.n For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

Match report
At the 3rd time of trying due to the first games being cancelled because of the terrible weather both teams turned up to the ground in glorious sunshine.n nT Cullen lost the toss and CCC U-21's were asked to bat first. S Ali (24) and W Hussain (20) were very impressive in punishing any wayward bowling, playing some fantastic pulls and cuts on the way to an opening stand of 49 within the first 10 overs. Sadly that was the only highlight of innings as the CCC side rather miserably and without any application were all out for 102 in 38.2 over's. J Maciver 4-5, A Raja 2-24 and M Rance 1-16 were the stand out bowlers.n nNoting that the Bucks spin bowlers enjoyed a fair amount of success on a bouncy turning wicket, captain T Cullen opened the bowling with his own spinners, A Laws (1-21) and J Ellis-Grewal (2-21) who bowled fantastically well and gave their side very controlled start. They were ably supported by 17 year old leg spinner, T Kazmi who made is debut (2-19), and the consistent G Singh (2-32). With a low total to defend all four CCC U-21's spinners were highly impressive, and by taking 7 wickets between them they ensured that they competed until the very end. Match report
CCC - 163 all out (42.3 overs)n3 Rivers - 167 for 8 wkts (41.1 overs)n Both teams turned up on a bright sunny day with the Three Rivers & Watford Cricket Development team looking to reverse the result of this fixture last year. n nMin Patel captaining the CCC U-21's side, lost the toss and was asked to bat first on a slightly damp and slow wicket. The Three Rivers & Watford CDG opening bowlers bowled a fairly tight and consistent line and were duly rewarded when both the CCC U-21's openers were out fairly cheaply. M McDonald (2-24) and the very impressive A Kulkarni (2-22) did the early damage. H Khan (32) with the help of T Cullen (20), and then late on M Patel (43) & F Wilson (26*) set a challenging total. V Patel was not able to take part in the game due to a finger injury sustained whilst warming up before the start of play. n nThe Three Rivers & Watford CDG innings got off to a very similar start to that of the CCC U21's with both their openers out early without disturbing the scorers too much. P Vyas (25) and then N Laws (65) with a captains innings went about building a very useful partnership, A Kulkarni (32) rounded of a man of the match performance. The CCC U-21's managed briefly to get themselves back into the game with G G Singh (3-21) and M Patel (2-17), however with some exceptionally poor spin bowling at a crucial part of the game the Three Rivers & Watford CDG team managed to get home.n nWith both teams now on one victory each they no doubt are looking forward to next years contest.n For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

Match report
CCC - 272 for 7 wkts declared (59.1 overs) SLH - 218 all out (42 overs)n Through-out this match we saw the rain in the distance, only for it to by-pass the Thames estuary and head towards the M25/M11. These days not many teams bowl at 20 overs per hour, as the CCC scored 159 off 40 overs in the morning session. Waqas Hussain was dismissed in over 37 for 89 runs (13 x 4's & 2 x 6's). An excellent 1 hour 20 minutes lunch was taken in the recently re-built club house ; which along with the development of a second cricket pitch (+ 2 rugby pitches) was primarly funded by grants from local environmental trusts. The over rate & run rate was continued after lunch, with Tom Cullen missing his century by 2 runs when cutting at a fuller-wider delivery, after 2 x 4's in the same over. Some lusty blows by captain Roy Smith & 16 yr old Freddie Wilson enabled a healthy declaration. CCC captured 4 wickets for 51 before tea, with The Cricket Society's, Neil Holmes, & CCC office manager, Stan Nicholson, collecting 2 each. Freddie Wilson's leggies captured 2 wickets before the 100, where apon Ross Poulton decided to throw caution to the wind. Joe Joyce took the braunt of the on-slaught, with 51 runs coming off his 4 overs. He did get the batsman at the other end out, and Neil Holmes returned to pick-up his 3rd wicket. Poulton was still there, looking very dangerous as he got his century (17 x 4's & 4 x 6's) and took SLHCC past 200. Another set of bowling changes resulted in Hamzah Khan dismissing Poulton & no. 10 in the 42nd over. Match report
Midlands CCC : 222 for 8 wkts (50 overs) CCC : 224 for 5 wkts (47.3 overs) [Tom Cullen 84*]nCCC won by 5 wktsn A great team perfomance from CCC made this victory. Debutant bowlers, Glenn Carlton (not 18 yrs old), and Edward Wharton (18 yr old), provided descipline opening spells, even though the dominant Midlands open bat punished anything off length or line. First change bowlers Mark Smith & Waqas Hussain continued that form. At 23 overs Daniel Yarnley's spin was introduced, and captured the danger wicket as Mohammed took on the fartherest boundary, only to be caught 1 yrd inside. The final 16 overs were perticular impressive from the CCC bowlers against a team only 2 wkts down on a hard track ; less than 90 runs, taking taking 6 wickets. In Waqas Hussain we have our dominate open bat. He will make more runs against equally strong bowling ; 20 out. A promoted no. 3 in Furruhk Chodhry performed more than what was asked of him, and made sure any loose ball went to the boundary. All the time Tom Cullen was at the other end as the 'rock'. Mark Smith kept the run rate at a comfortable level. Our yongest ever Representative XI player, 16 yr old Dan Matthews was rewarded for helping the team (& he enjoyed the experience), before Hamzah Khan and Tom ensured victory with 3.3 overs left.n For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

20 Jul 2012Women's XI v Combined Services
Match report
CCC won by 94 runs. CCC - 182 for 2 wkts (40 overs)n[Alice Richards 92, Hannah Smith 62*]nCombined Services - 88 all out (38.2 overs)n CCC lost the toss and was invited to bat first on a wet wicket in a 40 overs per side match. Uncertain of what to expect from our players, most of whom were playing together for the first time, nerves were soon settled by a high class opening partnership between Alice Richards and Hannah Smith, who settled in against the Services bowling and made steady and unruffled progress. Combined Services themselves were coming off the back of three days Inter Services competition and were therefore better prepared for competition cricket than CCC. An opening stand therefore, of 169 was an outstanding performance. Both openers represent their counties, Hannah for Hertfordshire and Alice for Kent. In Alice Richards, there is a player of true quality and it was she who was dismissed first, for an excellent 92 that contained shots all around the park and drew admiring comments from all those at the ground. Hannah proceeded serenely to an unbeaten 62 and provided the rock of the innings as CCC closed on 182-2. It was a very encouraging performance with the bat. Following lunch, CCC took the field under the astute and motivating captaincy of Sue Benson (Bucks CCC). Sam Wright and Jade Elphick opened the attack and it was quite clear that they had the measure of the Combined Services top order. Both bowled well with Jade picking up two early wickets with good inswing, resulting in clean bowling Vaggers and Kelly. As the match progressed it was clear that CCC had a very strong unit on the field. All the bowlers brought something to the game, including the mysteries of left arm chinamen from a young Alice Bowen. Our fielding was of high intensity and runs were stifled as the bowlers applied pressure with challenging spells throughout the session. As a consequence Combined Services were never let off the hook and through Elphick, Richards, Anna Swan, Sophie and Alice Bowen, CCC skittled CS out for 88 to claim victory by 94 runs.nn For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

19 Jul 2012Representative XI v Jersey National XI
Match report
Jersey National XI - 165 all out (40 overs) CCC Representative XI - 114 all out (29.2 overs)n Both teams turned up on a sunny morning at Watford Town Cricket Club very keen to get a game on even though the heavy overnight rain meant a damp pitch. The Watford Town Cricket Club ground staff did a fantastic job to make sure that the game started only half an hour later then the scheduled start. n nThe CCC side won the toss and elected to bowl first. This decision seemed like the most sensible thing to do and was justified when captain Wes Morrick had his opposite number caught and bowled to the 2nd ball of the match. Once the Jersey batsmen acclimatised themselves to the wicket they started to build useful partnerships with A Farley (18), B Stevens (26), C Bisson (26) and A Cooke (22) making good contributions, however A Dewhurst made a very disciplined and determined 56 which took the final innings total to respectful 165-6 from the allotted 40 over's. The pick of the CCC bowlers was T Afridi who finished with 2-37 and he was ably supported by A Malik 1-21 and W Morrick 1-33. n nThe CCC innings got off to a worse start then their counterparts when R Hindley was out to the first ball of the innings. The Jersey bowlers kept a very disciplined approach to their bowling attack which was well supported by an energetic fielding display. They also kept taking regular CCC wickets and never really let any form of partnership to build. H Khan applied himself well to the drying wicket and made a solid 29, in between the CCC were not helped by three very careless run outs and although T Afridi made a quick and powerful 29 the CCC lost momentum and fell short by finishing on 114 all out in the 29th over. The pick of the Jersey bowlers were P Connolly 3-32, A Cooke 2-19, and J Faudemer 2-20.n nThe game was played in excellent spirits between both sides.n For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

Match report
CCC Representative XI - 153 all out (41.5 overs) MCC - 92 for 5 (19.4 overs) Match Abandoned due to rain.n A match that was looking to be very close, was abandoned due to persistent drizzle. MCC won the toss & bowled, and got the early wickets of Daniel Yarnley & Sam Burge. Efren Cruz & Ahmad Elech (on CCC debut) took the score to 71 before both were out within 1 run. Mark Smith, assisted by Alex Cama and then James Cramp moved the score onto 146, where apon the last 5 wickets fell for 7 runs. Another CCC debutant, Jamie Thorpe, got an MCC wicket in his first over, and followed with a further 2 to have MCC 31 for 3. An interesting bowling change saw Clayson hit Yarnley's first 4 deliveries for 6, followed by 2 more off Min Patel in consequtive overs. One of those 6's was followed by his wicket, and when Patel took the 5th MCC dismissal, the balance had swung back to CCC. 3 Jul 2012Representative XI v Kent 2nd XI
Match report
CCC: 184 all out (39.5 overs) Kent 2nd XI: 188 for 2wkts (35.4 overs)n The day started with overcast conditions with the threat of drizzle and rain hanging over for much of the day, however the game got under way with the Kent side winning the toss and inserting the CCC side in to bat first. The Kent side certainly came with a strong team having no doubt remembered the loss they had to the CCC last year. n nAlthough the CCC lost an early wicket within the first few overs, Fahim Qureshi, opening the batting in his first game for the CCC looked very comfortable, and having seen the threat of the opening Kent bowlers off he settled down to play a very well constructed innings of 57. Sam Burge also looked in fine form making 30, and along with Fahim Qureshi they both looked like setting the Kent side a challenging total. Unfortunately in a short space of time both were out having looked totally at ease having played some wonderful shots. Tom Cullen coming in the middle order made a patient and controlled 23 ably supported by Waqas Hussain who made 19, however the loss of regular wickets and lack of partnerships meant that the CCC side were all out in the final over for 184, with Adam Ball finishing with fine bowling figures of 4-27 and Sam Weller 3-33.n nKent opening with Daniel Bell-Drummond and Fabian Cowdrey batted fantastically well on a very good batting pitch, and went about compiling a very considerable partnership which took the game away from the CCC. Daniel Bell-Drummond was out for 82 and Fabian Cowdrey finished on 76 not out. Waqas Hussain finished on 1-36 having bowled very well indeed against some really fine batting, and Ian Prowse 1-14. n nOverall the total set by CCC was not quite enough to seriously challenge the Kent side, but the fact the winning runs were not scored until the 36th over showed that the CCC performed well and stuck to the task. n nThe plus point really was the batting of Fahim Qureshi who made a very impressive debut for the CCC and we hope that he and the other debutants enjoyed their first game for the CCC and they will turn out for the us for many games in the future.n For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

20 Jun 2012Under 21 XI v Hertfordshire Academy
Match report
CCC: 193 all out (49.5 overs) Herts: 194 for 6 wkts (49.2 overs)n A very good low scoring game which went down to the last over with Herts Academy winning by 4 wickets. The CCC won the toss and opted to have a bat. The foundations were set through a wonderfully positive innings of 63 by Waqas Hussain. However, his dismissal coupled with the disciplined bowling from the Herts Academy spinners really did put a brake on the innings. The score was probably 20 or 30 short of where we would liked to have been and it would need an outstanding fielding and bowling effort to be competitve. The 4 CCC spinners all bowled tidily, and 3 direct hit run outs including the first two wickets certainly helped the cause. The Herts batsmen all chipped in and ultimately three dropped chances by the CCC proved to be quite costly. Liam Mitchell was the pick of the CCC bowlers with figures of 2/27 off his 10 overs.n For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.

Match report
Toss won by British Police, who batted first and scored 270 for 7 wickets. CCC replied and were bowled out for 190 in 45.2 overs, resulting in a defeat by 80 runs.n The British Police first wicket did not fall until 112 runs had been scored and 3rd wicket fell at 179. CCC were looking at chasing 300 runs, but the spinners were introduced and brought the game back. The CCC batting turned out to be a little brittle apart from Tim Handel, who showed patience and ability in his well put together 50.n For the full scorecard, copy the link below into your search address bar.
