Match report:
Barbados won the toss, & elected to bat.
Barbados: 144 all out (42.2 overs) Anthony Alleyne (overseas player at Walton-on-Thames CC in 2015) 55, Ed Wharton 3/32, Adam Riley 4/28.
CCC: 149 for 9 wkts (38 overs) Maruf Chowdhury 42, Dario Seale 3/27, Chaim Holder 3/32.

This one had it all ; heat, drama, collapses, fight-backs, injury, more drama, heros.
A 'sharp-eyed' CCC player noted that the umpires were not present at the toss, as the CCC lost the toss, and were asked to bowl/field first on the hotest day of the tour. The Barbados XI were effectively the Barbados 2nd XI, with many players 'looking for places' in their 1st class team.
Maruf Chowdhury had found the conditions on tour conducive to his swing bowling, but this team had 5 left handers in their top 7, and for a while it looked like our seamers would struggle. However Maruf & Ed Wharton had other ideas, with the assistance of keeper Richard Wharton ; the 1st 3 wickets all caught keeper [one a tremendous diving effort in-front of 1st slip]. Ed then claimed his 3rd with a c&b. Time for the spinners ; and as throught-out the tour, Messers Riley, Yarnley, & Southgate, kept the pressure on the batsmen, giving nothing away, and taking wickets. Barbados fought-back with a determined/patient 8th wicket partnership between opener Alleyne & keeper Worrell (47 runs/16 overs). Riley dimissed Alleyne & no. 10 in a double-wicket maiden over, but Barbados were not finished, with no. 11 contributing 11 runs to a 17 run last wicket partnership.
Despite a loose opening over, the Barbados XI also had a quality attack. CCC scored at 5 an over for the first 10 overs, but lost 3 wickets. At 74 we were 'half way home', however we were 5 wickts down, then captain Yarnley 'took one on the chin' (requiring medical attention at a local surgery) Someone need to dig-in. That looked like Sam Burge before dancing down the pitch to one that spun past his bat. Jamie Southgate was determined to see it through, but holed-out to deep mid-wicket ; 97/7. Enter Maruf to join his opening seamer, Ed Wharton. Although Ed was out at 128, Maruf was playing his career-best CCC innings ; 36 balls, 8 x 4's, 10 x singles ; then out with 2 need to win. Enter 'captain courageous'; stiches, plasters ; 4 x dot balls, time to end it, a six !!
A dramatic end to a dramatic game, and a fitting end to our tour.
