A new online cricket store has been launched today by a former England cricket international to provide equipment handpicked specifically for those playing and working in the women and girls game at every level.

The Female Cricket Store, which is the brainchild of former England Women’s cricketer, Lydia Greenway, has teamed up with a number of manufacturers to identify specific products that will benefit female cricketers and those working in the women and girl’s game. The store will provide a ‘go to’ place for every step of the cricketing journey, from garden cricket to professional level including:
  • Parents of girls new to the game
  • Clubs and schools delivering cricket to girls
  • Coaches working with female players
  • Players across all levels from school and club to professional
Working with established sports manufacturers such as Kookaburra, SM and Viking, The Female Cricket Store will offer a vast product range, from soft and hard ball training packages for schools and clubs, to specifically tailored playing equipment for players of all ages. Each manufacturer has worked to develop female specific ranges such as “The Kookaburra Pace Range” as used by England International Nat Sciver, “The SM HK Collection” used by England Captain Heather Knight and “The Viking Valkyrie Range” used by former England International and triple World Cup winner Jenny Gunn. Each range has been put together with the help and insight from female players across all levels of the game and features the highest quality English Willow bats and protection such as leg guards, gloves and wicket keeping kit tailored for female players.

The Female Cricket Store has also teamed up with Cricket For Girls, the coaching specialists for schools and clubs, to provide helpful advice and guidance as well as training tips through their newCricket for Girls YouTube channel. The channel also provides guidance on equipment and other areas of the game.

Greenway who played for England between 2003 and 2016, now splits her time between commentating and developing Cricket for Girls, and was also due to be Head Coach of ‘The Oval Invincibles’ in the new ECB Hundred competition, said:
“I am really excited to be launching The Female Cricket Store. Over the years we have seen an explosion in the growth of the women’s game but increasingly it’s a familiar story for parents and teachers of girls playing for the first time or for women picking up a bat to play, they don’t really know where to go to get suitable equipment.  Bats are too heavy, gloves are too big, there are only boys and men’s sizes, the list goes on.  Not only has the shopping experience been problematic but for those new to the game, knowing exactly what to buy is a challenge in itself. The Female Cricket store is a one stop shop suitable for all ages and abilities and we hope that it helps with getting more and more girls and women loving the game.”
