Match report:
CCC: 184 all out (39.5 overs)
Kent 2nd XI: 188 for 2wkts (35.4 overs)

The day started with overcast conditions with the threat of drizzle and rain hanging over for much of the day, however the game got under way with the Kent side winning the toss and inserting the CCC side in to bat first. The Kent side certainly came with a strong team having no doubt remembered the loss they had to the CCC last year.

Although the CCC lost an early wicket within the first few overs, Fahim Qureshi, opening the batting in his first game for the CCC looked very comfortable, and having seen the threat of the opening Kent bowlers off he settled down to play a very well constructed innings of 57. Sam Burge also looked in fine form making 30, and along with Fahim Qureshi they both looked like setting the Kent side a challenging total. Unfortunately in a short space of time both were out having looked totally at ease having played some wonderful shots. Tom Cullen coming in the middle order made a patient and controlled 23 ably supported by Waqas Hussain who made 19, however the loss of regular wickets and lack of partnerships meant that the CCC side were all out in the final over for 184, with Adam Ball finishing with fine bowling figures of 4-27 and Sam Weller 3-33.

Kent opening with Daniel Bell-Drummond and Fabian Cowdrey batted fantastically well on a very good batting pitch, and went about compiling a very considerable partnership which took the game away from the CCC. Daniel Bell-Drummond was out for 82 and Fabian Cowdrey finished on 76 not out. Waqas Hussain finished on 1-36 having bowled very well indeed against some really fine batting, and Ian Prowse 1-14.

Overall the total set by CCC was not quite enough to seriously challenge the Kent side, but the fact the winning runs were not scored until the 36th over showed that the CCC performed well and stuck to the task.

The plus point really was the batting of Fahim Qureshi who made a very impressive debut for the CCC and we hope that he and the other debutants enjoyed their first game for the CCC and they will turn out for the us for many games in the future.
