Match report:
CCC: 257 for 8 wkts decl. (59.2 overs)
Sawbridgeworth: 261 for 8 wkts (50.4 overs)
Many of the locals thought CCC had batted too long in this match, but the Sawbridgeworth team always went for victory.
A couple of early wickets, then some rebuilding, but CCC were 6 wickets down for 113 at lunch. Hamzah Khan (who has proved to be a stubborn batsman), and Ross Poulton (an agressive century against CCC 3 weeks ago) put on 122 in 23 overs after lunch. Ben Waring, a 14 year old left arm spinner that will interest CCC and many others bowled 20 overs for 56 runs (note the name).
Sawbridgeworth eased to 53 without loss at tea, but an immediate wicket then another by Ed Lowe, put CCC in the match. A Sawbridgeworth rebuilding 3rd wicket stand, then 5 regular wickets, took the score to 174 for 7 wickets. CCC where ready for 'the kill'. Captain Joe Rudkin decided to take the game to CCC, and as often in chasing matches a couple of 'big' overs can make the difference. 6 x 6's & 4 x 4's, 66 runs in 33 balls from Joe ensured victory for his team in the penultiment over ; a captain's innings.
