Match Drawn.

On a cloudy morning promising some short rain interruptions, CCC captain Simon Routh won the toss and elected to bat first on a hard dry wicket.

Against a young but challenging opening bowling attack the CCC lost Ahmad Elech early when he left an inswinging ball and had his middle stump removed. This brought in Waqas Hussain (57) who along with Aaron West (65) went about rebuilding the innings with care, and then once settled went on the attack punishing any bad bowling. Although once these two were out, and the CCC lost a few quick wickets, vital contributions by Ross Poulton (36) and Ed Wharton (22) meant that a respectful total was set. Russell Stockdale finished with great figures of 5/57.

The C&EE reply was built on a very solid and attacking partnership between Chamath Jayasooriya (37) and the brilliant Tom Blundell (101). The innings start given by these batsmen meant that their team were very much in control of chasing down the score, however once these two were removed the C&EE team lost their way and no other batsmen made any major contributions. Excellent spin bowling by Michael Churchhill (6/63), and the pace of Matt Green (2/68) meant that the game was going to go the wire ; and so it proved with 3 needed of the last ball with 9 wickets down and although the C&EE batsmen tried to send the ball to the boundary, it made it's way in the air and the CCC fielder although got a hand to it could not catch it to ensure a victory of the last ball.

Really good game played in great spirit by all involved.
