CCC won by 52 runs

A good toss to win, and bat, when the weather is so doubtful, and that is what the Conference side decided to do.

Farnham Royal's Sajid Ali went off like a train, eleven in no time, but then he hit the buffers and Waquas Hussain, now of Slough but very familiar with the Harrow gtound, carried on in like manner. 28 of his 37 runs coming in boundaries. Indeed Waquas' first non boundary scoring shot waited until the thirteenth over, meanwhile captain Wharton pottered on supplying that solid base from which good totals usually come. With the introduction of Greaves and Mitchell to the bowling attack, both batters departed, making way for Tom Phillipe, from Haddersleigh and Thundersley (is that in France ?), and Basil Akram (Hornsey is definitely in London). Together they moved the score from 79-3 to 161 in the 41st over before the loss of Tom, and the quick departure of two others left Ed Wharton with the job of trying to see Richard to a well deserved century. He didn't succeed but the CCC had a respectable total of 244-6. Something to bowl at.

Generaly the running between wickets was not of the best, and at least ten runs, probably more, were wasted. There was some quality batting, but a few batters seem to regard anything other than a boundary as not worth considering.

Hornsey's Basil Akram partnered Tring's Zachan Arshad with three or four economic overs but the pair of Rudkin and Patternott soon accelerated and so Ed Wharton was asked to apply the brakes. It was, however, Wanstead's Saurav Prabhakar who broke through. Rudkin LBW-37 at 85-1. Now Ed struck ,at 106-2 and 109-3 AND a runout 117-5 Saurav taking wicket number four, and the Herfordshire innings looked slightly bedraggled, havin degenerated from eighty five without loss to 117 for 5. Principaly to the left arm spin of both Saurav Prabhakar and Henley's Gurveet Singh. Few of the remaining batters could stay with Alex Axon who had dug in successfully. Nevertheless, with Liam Mitchell, he constructed a thirty three run nineth wicket partnership, but it was never going to be enough. The two spin bowlers, with assistance from Ed Wharton and Travis Hussain (High Roding's) applied constant pressure to bowl out the opposition for 192 with nearly five overs to spare
