Match report: CCC won the toss, & elected to bat
CCC - 192 for 9 wkts (50 overs) Ravi Panchal 35, Darren Ironside 31
Jersey - 176 all out (49.2 overs) Ravi Panchal 3/33
CCC won by 16 runs
A closely fought match, with no batsman playing a dominant innings.
For the CCC, the top order of Jamie Southgate (19), Eddie Ballard (25), Harry Ramsden (22 on CCC debut), & Tommy Burslem (21 on CCC debut), all made starts, but none could stay more than 8 overs, and therefore no big partnerships developed. Our 3rd debutant, Darren Ironside (at no. 6), scored his 31 in 53 balls, and it needed Ravi Panchal (out with 1 over to go) to score 27 of his 35 runs in the last 15 of his 47 balls (6 x 4's). Charles Perchard was the most economical of the Jersey bowlers, with 2 wkts for 12 runs from his 7 overs.
The Jersey innings followed a similar pattern, albeit they were 7 wkts down before 100 runs were scored (CCC being 4 wkts down at that stage). After losing their captain, Peter Gough, to a direct hit, 1 stump to aim at, run out by Harry Ramsden, Will Harris (25) & Nathaniel Watkins (26) took the score to 60, before both & Jonty Jenner were dismissed within 5 runs (Ravi Panchal taking 2 of those wickets). It required two 30+ partnerships for the last 2 wickets for Jersey to reach a respectable, but hever really threatening, score. Darren Ironside was our most economical bowler with 2 wickets for 22 runs from his 10 overs.
After only 1 win in the last 7 matches between the teams, the CCC were obviously delighted.
