As the co-founder of the South East Shires Cricket League, my highlight of the season is always the annual presentation and it’s quite fitting it being at the High Wycombe Town Hall where it all began back over 40 years ago.
Today I went as the Chair of the Club Cricket Conference instead of the Ex-President and it was wonderful to see the town hall in full capacity with over 200 awards being presented. The league goes from strength to strength and having toured Pakistan two years ago the representative side is now touring Dubai at the end of this month. Many congratulations to all the awardees and the league committee for what was another tremendous evening.
A very touching part of the evening, is the “Hall of Fame”; tributed to those who have served the league in some capacity. Wonderful to see the Ex-Chairman (Mohammed Latif) and the Treasurer (Ghazanfar Mahmood) of the early years of the league being recognised for their service to the league and to Cllr Tuffail Hussain for service to cricket for the league over the years.
